Airfield, 4/30/19

We're still doing a bit of maintenance at this private pond we have access to, we call "The Airfield". We rode back over after dinner last night, and did a bit more fishing until a little after dark. They're beginning to take a little top water, but mostly insects and such. Here's a few pics of what we caught...

Airfield, 4/28/19

We were doing a bit of maintenance at this private pond we have access to, we call "The Airfield". Trimming a bunch of weeds, cutting some access openings, working on a jon boat launch, and repairing and entrance gate. We couldn't help but fish a little while we were there. Debbie was throwing a 5" Yum Dinger, I was playing with a Whopper Plopper on top water. They're just not quite ready for top water yet, an occasional slap here and there. I managed one, to Debbie's 5 on the first stop. Debbie 5, Dave 1. I ran the battery down on the string trimmer, so we fished a bit and went to check on some friends' animals while they were away on vacation. Here's a few pics...

When we returned from our friends' house, the battery was charged on the weed trimmer, and we decided to go back and get a little more work done (and fish up to dark). I tried the fly rod a bit, but no takers.  More top water, but no takers. Switched back to a worm, and it was on. Debbie 5, Dave 3. Here's pics from the later visit this evening...

Murdock, 4/26/19

On the way to breakfast, Debbie and I decided to stop in at Murdock's and see if the crappie wanted to play. It was sprinkling rain (best time, there!), but when we stopped, so did the rain. The little guys were ready, but as soon as the sun came out, they when home. We loaded up and headed to the Waffle House for some good eats :-) We were using our micro rigs with beetle spins equipped with a Creme Smokey Shad Grub. Here's a few pics...

Airfield, 4/26/19

We were planning to get up before sunrise and do a little fishing before the storm came in, but I couldn't drag myself out of bed :-) I finally got up, and we went out to check out a couple of spots. Debbie caught her fish on a 5" Yum Diner, working the bottom. I caught the first bass on a Zoom Craw, and the last two bass on a Storm shad swimbait. Debbie's worm rig far out caught my attempts on other baits. Here's a few pics...

While I was picking the bass up from the pond with the rod, this swimbait / jighead flew out of his mouth, whipped around the rod tip, and cracked me right on top of the head. Man, that hurt!

Airfield, 4/25/19

Debbie and I ran out for a little fishing this evening, after dinner. The bite was fair, and we were both very tired, but it was nice to throw baits a little while and visit with the fish :-) I caught my fish on the fly rod with a small white floating & popping bream fly. Debbie caught her fish on a 5" Yum Dinger rigged weightless and weedless. Here's a few pics...
