Secret Pond, 5/28/19

Debbie and I hooked up the Jon boat and headed over to the private spot we call the "Secret Pond" this evening around 5pm. We fished until just before dark, and loaded out. Great evening! Water temp in this shallow pond was 92 degrees!! We caught some nice bluegill and several LMB. I was getting lots of slaps on a Ribit frog rigged weedless and worked as topwater and managed to get a hookset on a few. They're just beginning to show interest in top water baits, and still aren't making aggressive hits. Debbie was working soft plastic worms and really producing...that is still the "go to" bait in a lot of these ponds. She hit one that broke the 12 lb mono on her rig as it got right to the boat. It was a fatty, but didn't want any part of being netted and having her photo taken :-) . Here's a few photos...

Airfield, 5/27/19

We went out to the Airfield pond at the end of the Memorial Day weekend, and put the Jon boat in to do a little late evening and night fishing. We had a blast, and fished until about 10:30pm. We caught a bunch of bass, no bluegill to be found today :-) Debbie was working the bottom with 5" Yum Dinger worms, weightless. I was using a 4" Rebel segmented minnow with a small dive bill, running about 1 ft down. I did throw a Ribit frog a good bit, but only got a couple of slaps. Here's a few pics...

Airfield, 5/23/19

Debbie and I took the Jon boat over to the Airfield pond after dinner, the first time we've ever put in out there. We often bank fish around there, but would see lots of activity near a sand bar out in the middle, that we couldn't get to. We put the boat in, and sure enough, it was going on out in the middle. I was using a segmented Rebel dive bait with a small dive bill and a butter bean sized micro dive bait in fire tiger colors. Debbie was using a 5" Yum Dinger in watermelon and pearl, and a beetle spin. We were only there a couple of hours, but had a blast. Here's a few pics...

Secret Pond, 5/23/19

We pulled the Jon boat to a private spot we fish at, we call the "Secret Pond", first thing this morning. Debbie packed a picnic breakfast, and we were on the pond at 6:15am. Wow, what a morning of fishing!!! Water temp was 78 degrees (!!), the sky was overcast, and the fish were ready. It sprinkled rain off and on, a little. We stopped for breakfast on the pond about 8am, and then continued fishing. We caught about 40 bass, and another 25 or so bluegill. We were playing with a multitude of baits...a few of the bass were caught on top water Ribit frogs, while most of them were caught on 5" Yum Dinger worms. Blue gill were caught on a multitude of baits... beetle spins, small dive baits, and even 4" segmented Rebel top water that looked like minnows. We were sometimes catching 2 at the time (one each). Here's some pics from this morning...
