We stopped in at Riley Hill for a few minutes, today. Debbie picked up a few bluegill on a micro setup with a beetle spin. I caught this little bass on a Whopper Plopper. Nice quick stop, you never know what you might find!

Moccasin Creek, 2/24/21
Debbie and I haven't done much fishing over the winter, life sometimes seems to get in the way of fun :-) Today, we hopped in the truck and ran out to Moccasin Creek, just off Hwy 97, east of Zebulon. We bank fished a bit, and caught a few black crappie, I foul hooked a small bass, and the biggest that day was a 5lb 2oz female. It looked like she was working the bed, notice her tail. It was surely pre-spawn, she was fat! The water was COLD, around 41 deg, they were moving slow and on the bottom. The bass were caught on a Z-man chatter bait with a silver fluke trailer...literally laying on the bottom. They weren't chasing anything. The crappie were on a beetle spin / micro rig with a smokey shad grub, Here's a few pics...

Kerr Lake, 10/1/20
Debbie and I took the bass boat out for a little while, down in the Nutbush area of Kerr Lake (on the NC side). We caught 5 bass, I only got pics of a couple of them that were larger. We seemed to be fishing in the nursery :-) Still, it was a great day to be fishing! Here's a couple of pics...these were caught on rattle traps in 8-10 feet of water, 50'+ feet out from the banks, clear day, water temps around 72 degrees....

Kerr Lake, 9/27/20
Debbie and I took the pontoon boat out on the lake, just up to the mouth of the cove, for a picnic dinner. A couple of good friends were on their boat about 8 miles up the lake, and texted a bunch of pics of what they were catching.
About an hour before sunset, we realized the whole area had become loaded with bait fish balls that were literally "boiling" the lake all around us. We went back to the dock, grabbed a couple of rods and some tackle, and returned to the mouth of the cove. After a few minutes, we saw one area where fish were literally leaping out of the water while feeding. I fired up the pontoon and ran to it, and Debbie was throwing top water baits into it. When we switched to a WhopperPlopper, it was "ON". Here's a couple of pics...
