Kerr Lake, 7/17/20

We headed back to Kerr Lake for a couple of days to do some maintenance work and get a little fishing in. On this day, we were fishing some of the coves and riprap near the Nutbush bridge. We were fishing with 5" yum dingers (watermelon & pearl), rigged weightless & weedless.

We headed up to Kerr Lake for a day of fishing. We ended up in the Anderson Creek area. The lake level had been up pretty high... around 317' asl, and finally came down to 310' asl. It;s normally about 300' asl. Anyway, here's a few pics from the day..we were fishing with 5" yum dingers (watermelon & pearl), rigged weightless & weedless.

Jon Boat Fish Finder

We had been needing a depth finder on the jon boat, but didn't want to spend the $$ for one. I had an old Lowrance x22a from about 1996, but the transducer was bad. A replacement transducer cost more than I could buy a complete working used system on the web. I put a message out on the internet, and found a guy who had an old transducer with a bad unit, and I got that. I made a bracket for the rear of the boat, modified an old CB radio bracket to mount the x22a on the inside of the transom, and got it all wired up. This is electronics on the cheap for fishing  :-) Here's a few pics...

Atkinson Mill Pond, 6/13/20

Debbie and I took the jon boat up to Atkinson Mill Pond for a bit of fishing. We traveled at least 2 miles up the Little River feeder. The water was pretty muddy, but the weather was great! Here's a few pics...

Moccasin Creek, 6/12/20

Debbie and I went out to Moccasin Creek for a little fishing today. Didn't catch much of any size, but you can tell Deb was enjoying herself. It's a beautiful place to fish!

Boddies Millpond, 5/15/20

Debbie and I hitched the Jon boat, and headed over to Boddies Millpond, early this morning. We were on the water by 6:45, and Debbie was all over it :-) She immediately picked up 2 bass, the first about 2-1/2 lbs...the 2nd was 2lb 4oz. She caught them on her favorite bait, a 5" Yum Dinger stick bait, rigged weightless and weedless on a 2O ewg hook. She was using her Zebco Bullet reel, 12lb mono, and a 6'6" Ugly Stic GX2. I'll note that all of the bass were caught in the shade (under tree & bush overhangs), the largest 2 were from along the edge of the lilly pads.

I was using a similar setup, and picked up one that was about 2 lbs shortly after. We caught a number of small bass in the more shallow part of this huge lake near the head. Debbie snagged several black crappie on her micro rig, out in the open areas away from the banks. We were on the water about 8 hours and had a blast. The bite dropped off after about 11, something we've noticed about this location in the past. Here's a few pics...

This is BEAUTIFUL place , and the waterway goes on for over 1-1/2 miles before running into Little Peachtree Creek & Back Swamp Creek!
