Fowler Road, 3-4-19

After leaving Barrett's Farm Ponds, we stopped by Little River at Fowler Road for a few minutes, before calling it a day. Here's what we picked up...

Barrett's Farm Ponds, 3-4-18

Debbie and I popped over to Barrett's Farm Ponds today to do a bit of fishing. It was pretty chilly, but the weather was beautiful. I had an event of a lifetime happen to me... I snagged this from the Barrett's Farm Ponds Facebook Page...

"Dave was fishing the 1 acre pond with a beetle spin on light tackle with a 4lb test line. He snagged this nice Bluegill and started reeling it in. Suddenly there was a bump on the line and it stopped. After a brief but cautious battle, this Bass started rolling near the bank with the Bluegill in its mouth and refused to let go!

Without a net, getting it out of the water proved to be an adventure. The 4lb line wouldn't allow the fish to be lifted out. Just as the 2 fish reached the bank, the line broke. As you can see from Dave's wet pant leg, he did what it took to grab the Bass (Bluegill included) and drag them in.

The Bass weighed in at 7lb 3oz. Both the Bass and the Bluegill survived and were returned to the pond. Dave caught the largest Bass he's ever caught and his wife, Debbie, said it was the largest Bass she'd ever seen.

Lessons learned:
1 - Fish bite on cold days.
2 -.Always carry a net.
3 -.We need to be using larger bait!"

Thanks for Barrett's piece on this, here's the fish pics...

After I cleaned out my pants and recomposed myself, we continued fishing a bit. Debbie caught these two bass...
